DescriptionThe Department of Physics offers a 4-year Physics with Integrated Foundation Year Degree scheme (F301) which is appropriate for students who are yet to achieve the necessary skills in physics and mathematics. Students undertake this scheme for a variety of reasons, including a lack of appropriate A-level grades in mathematics and physics. It is the acknowledged route to a physics degree for returning mature students. Although students enter into this degree scheme for a wide variety of reasons we are constantly and pleasantly surprised by the performance of students taking this course. We have had many examples of students entering via this scheme and graduating with first class or second class honours degrees.

Following their successful completion of the foundation year, students may then follow any pathway through the BSc or MPhys courses, with all options available to them. Across all teaching, after this point there is no differentiation between an F301 student and any other.
