| Description | Swansea University has been educating paramedics since 1998 and is the sole provider in Wales of pre-registration paramedic education. Students will acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes that inform clinical paramedic practice. They are encouraged to develop intellectually and professionally – becoming paramedics who are analytical, assertive, creative, safe, confident and decisive and who will embrace change and use research.
Students are expected to travel to placements around Wales as required. They will work in the community on board operational ambulances, as well as with colleagues in hospital settings such as theatres, and accident and emergency departments. Students will assist and will only treat patients while under the supervision of a qualified practitioner. Students will also be supported throughout by Practice Placement Educators. Many teaching staff are Registered Paramedics and still work in practice.
