DescriptionThe Sport Studies degree will require you to critically examine sport in its socio-cultural context. Sports culture is dynamic rather than fixed and requires scholars to develop critical thinking from a range of relevant perspectives. You will continuously challenge your own preconceptions and guiding principles both as to the nature and purposes of modern sports cultures. ​

This course has a strong humanities and social science element and is particularly geared towards those of you who are interested in the place and role that sports play in contemporary society. The programme draws on historical, sociological and ethical perspectives to examine and understand the global appeal and cultural significance of sport.​

Should you be interested in the study of the social, cultural, historical, political and ethical aspects of sport you will find the Sport Studies degree is an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge base and enhance your critical awareness of the phenomenon of sport in society.
