DescriptionThe Energy Systems Engineering Technology (Fast Track) program will benefit you if you are a qualified college or university graduate. You may gain direct admission into year two (semester three) of this three-year program and receive your Technology advanced diploma in four semesters. Thanks to a combination of lectures and labs, you will learn the fundamental know-how needed to understand energy and its uses in modern society as well as a unique blend of technical, managerial and entrepreneurial skills. This combination is highly sought after in companies dealing with modern energy and sustainable building. Aside from learning about building automation and smart grids, you will also focus on both renewable and conventional energy, including: Wind; Solar; Geothermal; Hydro; Gas turbine; Nuclear.

The topics you cover and the skills you gain through Energy Systems Engineering Technology (Fast Track) will improve your career prospects as society’s changing views on energy and environment are transforming the utility and construction sectors. Current operating practices are opening doors to innovative energy projects that employ small-scale sources including solar power to feed electricity, heat and air conditioning to homes and businesses. The construction industry has also adopted a host of new green building initiatives that are rapidly increasing awareness and the use of sustainable, integrated architecture and engineering practices for new buildings. Additionally, manufacturers have many new products that provide ways to implement advanced energy control in commercial and residential structures. You will be at the forefront of integrating and using all of these modern sustainable energy technologies in a manner consistent with our urban environments. Please note: The Professional Technology Year version of this offering (program #3777) will allow you to enhance your education by working a full calendar year as a paid employee in the field. The experience will not only allow you to put classroom learning into practice, but will also provide valuable contacts for future careers.
