Description | Computer Science is the study of how computing devices can extend and support the abilities of the human mind. In the beginning, most of computer science focused on mathematical abilities – computers were used for "number crunching" and scientific computation.
Today, computer scientists work on much more. The creation of virtual environments, for example, to allow us to work and play together over long distances; or the modeling, simulation and analysis of big systems to help us test strategies, plan actions and predict behaviours. Aspects of computer science are found almost everywhere, and many Computer scientists work in non-traditional and interdisciplinary fields. There are more people working in computer science today than ever before, and the career prospects for computer scientists continue to grow. | | |
