Description | Remote sensing is the study of earth observation systems and applications. In practice, it is usually associated with applied computer analysis of digital geospatial imagery. Remote Sensing is a rapidly expanding discipline with multiple applications in: forestry, geology, defence/intelligence, disaster management, conservation, oceanography, meteorology, urban analysis, and agriculture. With hands-on experience using industry standard software, students learn how to interpret satellite images, process digital images, and the theoretical basis for remote sensing and aerial imaging platforms.
As a graduate of this concentration, you are qualified to work as a remote sensing analyst, an image analysis specialist, or GIS specialist. Graduates may also pursue further research and study with the Applied Geomatics Research Group or through a Master's program. | | |
