Description | The Tourism program prepares students for professional employment in the tourism industry. The focus is to develop basic skills in client services, communication, guiding and group animating, and to achieve management skills in product development, marketing, event planning, and all other aspects of the industry. This bilingual program integrates students directly into the milieu providing networking opportunities and an in-depth understanding of our region’s industry. The program provides language training in French and the basics of Spanish and Mandarin, as well as key management skills focused on product development from both the regional and the international perspectives. Graduates can effectively plan and organize tours, events and trips; and develop, assess, and assume leadership of tourism programs and activities in the region and abroad.
The co-op option is a key feature of the Tourism program whereby qualified students are placed in two paid summer work terms. Access to professional settings gives students hands-on real-life work experience, greatly improving their employability. | | |
