Description | The Interior Decorating program intertwines creativity with the practicality of building and touches on business application. Students are challenged by design theories, concepts and the language of the design industry. In addition they employ the tools of colour, light, texture and explore the selection of appropriate finishes, materials, textiles, objects d'art and visual elements. Students learn business practice, project schedule strategies, and product specification, as well as a variety of verbal and graphic methods of presentation and communication. Computer-generated drafting, manual drafting and sketching are vital skills that are in high demand in the industry. Additional topics include reference to building methods, barrier free environments, and sustainable material issues. To round out the learning experience, students explore mechanical, electrical and plumbing services.
