DescriptionThe Special Education Assistant (SEA) certificate is a part-time program that prepares students to work at the para-professional level in the field of education. Special Education Assistants work under the supervision of classroom or resource teachers to support students with special needs in elementary and secondary education settings. The program builds the knowledge and skills students need to work as part of an educational team, supporting the integration and education of students with special needs into a regular school classroom.

The SEA program includes 2 work-experience practicums that combine the theory learned in the classroom with the practical skills needed to work in the field of Special Education. There are also 90 hours of Teaching and Learning workshops taught by industry professionals to provide practical hands-on information/experience in current Special Education trends, issues and practices.
