DescriptionOur Economics program focuses on three key areas: (1) Microeconomics focuses on the production and consumption of individual goods and services as well as the merits of various means of allocating these goods between competing users; (2) Macroeconomics focuses on issues related to inflation, unemployment, interest and exchange rates, economic growth and distribution on a national or international scale; and (3) Econometrics focuses on the means of analyzing data to inferreliable conclusions. These basic ideas are necessary to study specific issues and are extended in more advanced classes.

The Bachelor of Science in Economics is a more technically demanding program than the Honours Bachelor of Arts program, requiring greater theoretical, mathematical and empirical sophistication. It is designed for students interested in graduate studies or work as economists.
