DescriptionEMT is the largest group of paramedics in Canada and provides medical services in a variety of settings from urban to industrial. Many EMTs are employed by industry, air ambulances, and the military.

ESA ensures that all Alberta College of Paramedics EMT core competencies are exceeded and that CMA Accreditation is maintained. The program strives to provide the opportunity to become a highly trained, well practiced EMT by using a variety of facilitative techniques in program delivery and low student-to-instructor ratios in lab sessions.

After successful completion of the classroom component, each student is scheduled to complete three field practicums; with an ambulance service, interhospital transfers and within a hospital setting.

The EMT Program offered at ESA is between 9 and 12 months in duration, depending on scheduling and practicum availability.
