DescriptionBioinformatics involves the computational analysis of gene and genome sequences as well as functional genomic data. It is an interdisciplinary science that requires strong backgrounds in computer science and molecular biology, and good knowledge of mathematics, statistics, chemistry, genetics and evolutionary biology. The Bioinformatics Specialist Program reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the field, and the courses drawn from the offerings in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics.
