DescriptionThis new three-year specialization program leads to a Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC) and provides the student with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage the health information required for patient care, administration, research and education. This program is designed to train you for the specialized techniques required in health information management and offers a unique combination of medical, computer, and business courses. Emphasis during the program will be on medical records techniques, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, medical coding, computerization and statistical analysis.

A medical records technician / librarian manages the information contained in the patient’s medical records and ensures the confidentiality of this information. Depending on the work environment, a medical records technician’s / librarian's duties may be quite varied
