DescriptionFitness Leadership is a program that is intended to prepare graduates to pursue careers in the area of physical fitness, including evaluation, promotion and leadership. This program will provide students with an opportunity to become fully certified with CPR, First Aid, Canadian Physical Activity Fitness and Lifestyle Approach (Certified Fitness Consultant) and AFLCA Resistance Training and other fitness specialty training courses (Older Adult, Aquatic Fitness and Group Exercise). If you have current proof of this training, you will not be required to repeat the certification. You will also receive specialized training in one or more certifications, and be given the opportunity to gain valuable experience by completing a supervised practicum in this growing industry.

The program incorporates both theory and practical components. The theory courses, most of which are university transferable, provide the student with the background information necessary to understand the structure and function of the human body and its adaptations to exercise. The practicum will assist the student in developing the skills required to assess individual physical fitness levels and to formulate and to deliver appropriate fitness programs.
