Description | Learn the technical and creative aspects of costuming for both theatre and film in this 30-week, full-time certificate program. Developed in collaboration with the motion picture industry, this certificate program is unique in B.C. and Canada in that it offers a motion picture costuming component in addition to theatre costuming. The program covers costume history, textiles, wardrobe management, cutting and construction techniques, and includes hands-on experience working on College theatre productions and student film projects.
Upon completion, students will be knowledgeable in: style and changes in costume evolution, effective research techniques, setting up production costume shops, drafting basic patterns, constructing garments, interpreting designer's sketches, organizing and maintaining costume stock, dyeing textiles and ageing costumes, running crew for stage performances, preparation and care of costumes - fittings and alterations, on-set procedures for costume continuity - dressing performers, as well as script breakdown and analysis for costuming requirements. | | |
