Description | The field of computer music is by its nature highly interdisciplinary, encompassing music, computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, psychology, among others. The University of Victoria is very active in the international computer music community, with artistic work balanced by scientific research, supported by grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSRHC). Their research and artistic focus is on new musical instruments, interactive performance and improvisation.
The University of Victoria's undergraduate curriculum begins with the study of the interrelationship among music, science and computers, followed by sound recording and digital audio, generation and manipulation of sounds by computer, and electroacoustic composition. | | |
