In addition, it is recommended that prospective students from outside North America and Western Europe arrange for submission of original test results of the General Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the Advanced GRE in Physics. All candidates whose native language is not English must also arrange for submission of TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score reports. The Faculty of Graduate Studies requires prospective students to achieve a TOEFL score of at least 580; the Physics department requires a higher standard, currently 600.
