Prerequisites NotesOSSD – Ontario Secondary School Diploma 30 Credits (General/Advanced Level) or Grade 12 Equivalency – GED Certificate in English, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics; Grade 12 English; Grade 11 Biology and Grade 11 or 12 in Chemistry and/or Physics. Applicants must also attend a personal interview, pass a pre-admission aptitude test, be vaccinated against Hepatitis B three weeks prior to start of classes, and take the two-step TB test. A police background check will also be conducted.

DescriptionThe Dental Hygiene program is a highly competitive and intensive program that combines academic study with supervised clinical experience. The curriculum is designed to incorporate advances in technology in the oral health field and involves courses in the biomedical sciences, oral health sciences, dental hygiene theory and practice, behavioural sciences, and health education.

Dental hygienists work in a variety of practice settings such as general dentistry, speciality practices such as periodontics, orthodontics and paedodontics, community health centres and collective living centres, hospitals, educational institutions, and research and marketing venues. APLUS Institute's Dental Hygiene program is fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada (CDAC).
