Prerequisites NotesOntario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent. The majority of Grade 11 and 12 courses must be college or university preparation level. Full-time General Arts and Science students who achieve a GPA of 3.00 or better for at least one semester will receive an additional 10 percent in their admission assessment when applying to any post-secondary diploma program at St. Lawrence College. This will be particularly beneficial for programs that are highly competitive and therefore ranked.

DescriptionThe General Arts & Science Certificate offers a foundational year for students preparing for future study in a wide range of fields. For students in the Applied Arts stream, core courses in communications, social sciences, and personal development are enhanced by courses in Art History, Photoshop, comput­ers, and arts-based electives such as Digital Photography, Film Studies, The Impact of Music and Society, and Media & the Arts. Graduates of the Applied Arts stream are prepared for future study in applied arts programs such as Graphic Design and Music & Digital Media.


This one-year preparatory year will allow stu­dents to develop core competencies in com­munications, computers and social sciences, while also exploring courses in applied arts. For students moving on to other St. Law­rence College programs after completing this one-year program, some of the courses completed as part of this program may trans­fer.
