Description | Note: The program name has recently changed and was formerly Exploration Information Technology. Students who started the program prior to fall 2014 will graduate with a diploma in Exploration Information Technology.
The Geoscience Information Technology program provides you with a broad understanding of Earth Sciences with specialized computing skills focusing on UNIX, database management and mapping applications. This program provides students computer skills geared towards the energy sector and numerous other industries. Graduates may find employment as a geological or geophysical technologist, applying your expertise in the areas of geological processing and interpretation, computer mapping of geographic variables, manipulation of geophysical data, integration of geological and geophysical data, and production of 3-D models for the reservoir. There is a growing market for digital information experts to work as assistants to geologists and geophysicists as a starting position. | | |
