Description | Advancement and changes in technology alters lives around us every day. The understanding of technology must go hand-in-hand with the skills necessary for its application. The Mechanical techniques program is designed to maximize the resources of a skilled workforce and enhance the career growth of individuals. One of the trends in the industry today is towards Multi-Skilled individuals.
The first semester will deliver a solid theory base as well as developing solid hand skills. Second semester specializes in industrial/manufacturing stream. You will incorporate learned methods on how to design and create assigned projects. Classroom instruction is reinforced by practical demonstrations and relevant work applications.
The 30 week Mechanical Techniques program parallels the first year Mechanical Engineering Technician program, and the Ontario Basic Millwright Trades Apprenticeship. Following successful completion of this program, a student may enter into the second year Mechanical Engineering Technician program and/or access a number of career occupations such as Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Machinist, pipe fitting, plumbing, Welder/Fitter, Sheet Metal Worker. | | |
