DescriptionOur four-year Political Science program is built around three streams: Canadian government and politics; comparative politics and international relations; and political theory. In all instances, we strive to incorporate Indigenous content, ideas, and methodology. Our overriding concern is with helping students identify and understand important political institutions and actors, along with the forces and ideas that separately, and together, work to shape society and facilitate or impede transformative political action. A degree in Political Science will teach you how to systematically investigate political events and occurrences, at the national, regional, and global levels, and recognize who, or what, exerts power in our interconnected world. Students will examine power, sovereignty, identity, equality, freedom, justice, authority, political violence, revolution, securitization, secularization, globalization, political economy, and political mobilization. The program prepares students for law school, careers in government, jobs with nongovernmental organizations, graduate school, and private sector vocations.
