Description | The performance major is intended for those seeking careers as orchestral musicians, as freelance concert artists, or as teachers of performance, either in universities and colleges, conservatories, or private studios. A majority of performance majors should expect to go on to further study at graduate schools or conservatories. The program is structured to allow students to devote a maximum amount of their time to practising and other performance-related activities. Performance Majors attend (in addition to their teacher's weekly master class) the Integrated Performance Seminar, in which small groups of student performers are coached each week by a different faculty member. They also participate in both large ensembles (such as orchestra, chorus, wind symphony, etc.) and small ensembles (chamber music, accompanying, etc.) in each year of the program. | | |
