Prerequisites NotesYou can apply for this certificate program if you have earned a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in the U.S or the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree from an international institution that is officially recognized by that country You must have maintained a "B" (3.00 on a 4.00 scale) GPA in the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate coursework. If you do not meet the minimum GPA requirements, your application may still be considered. International applications must provide proof of English proficiency as outlined by ASU Admission Services.

DescriptionA graduate certificate in multilingual education prepares you to educate bilingual and multilingual learners in a variety of settings, including public and private schools, colleges and universities, and organizations and businesses serving linguistically diverse populations. In this certificate program, you?ll learn skills for assessing language use and content area knowledge, and gain a strong foundation in supporting language acquisition for multilingual learners.

The educating multilingual learners' graduate certificate is 18 credit hours and can be completed within a two-year period while concurrently pursuing an online graduate degree or as a stand-alone certificate. Students pursuing this certificate program might already be working with diverse populations, such as refugees or immigrants in nonprofit organizations, or students of all ages in academic or professional settings.
