DescriptionStatistics is the entire science of decision making in the face of uncertainty. It is the mathematical and computational study of randomness and variability of data. It is used in and makes significant impact on any field where data is collected. Jobs for statisticians exist in nearly every field and are expected to grow tremendously. Statistician, more broadly, data scientist, is consistently ranked as the top job in United States by the press.

Our Department offers a major, a medial and a minor in Statistics. A wide range of undergraduate courses covering theory, computations, and applications is offered to provide students a solid footing in Mathematics, computing skills, and sound knowledge in Statistics. A major in Statistics from Queen's University will prepare you for a career in one of the world's most in-demand scientific fields. A medial in Statistics with other subjects is also extremely useful to expand your career choices. Undergraduate students also have the opportunity to take up internship through the Queen’s Undergraduate Internship Program (QUIP).
