DescriptionDigital Humanities integrates computational methods and theories with research and teaching in the Arts and Humanities. It addresses the demand for Arts graduates to be able to work either in the realm of arts and humanities research and teaching or in the emerging job markets of information management and content delivery over the internet. We have a great record of placing our students in library positions, computer lab positions, research projects, PhD programmes and industry jobs.

Students can do a 2-year course-based MA in Digital Humanities, a 2-year thesis-based MA in Digital Humanities, or a 3-year joint MA/MLIS (also with thesis). The double degree gives a strong combination of academic and professional degrees with a breadth of career prospects. In the 2-year programs, students can specialize in another field like (English, History, Philosophy, Music) should they want to continue on to a PhD in that field. There is room in the curriculum to take courses in the specialization and the thesis is then supervised jointly by someone in Digital Humanities and someone in the specialization. Our faculty specialize in many diverse areas of research, including digital mapping, gaming, text and data mining, visualization and text analy
