Requirements for Canadian Students

We have three levels of TOEIC classes, beginner, intermediate, and advanced, but our TOEFL iBT preparation course is only for higher intermediate students. Orientation and Testing Procedure All students must arrive by 9:00 a.m. on the first day of school for orientation and testing. You should bring: - Your passport and insurance information. - A notebook and pen. In general, the schedule on intake day is: - 9:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. - Welcome - 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. - Placement Test - 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. - Orientation - 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. - Lunch Break - 12:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. - Walking tour of the neighborhood around the school. Placement Test - Grammar - Students have to answer 80 multiple choice questions, choosing from four alternatives (30 minutes). - Writing - Students have to answer four written questions (ten minutes). - Speaking - Students have a speaking exam with one of the teaching staff. They will be asked a number of questions (five minutes). Visa You may study in Canada for up to six months with a visitor's visa. If you would like to study longer than six months, then you need two important documents, the CAQ and the Canadian Student Visa. First, you need to apply for a CAQ, which is a Quebec Study Certificate. This is an application that you send to Government of Quebec Office here in Montreal. When your CAQ is accepted (three to four weeks), the Government of Quebec will send it to your nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate where you will be applying for your Student Visa. Canadian Immigration law states that students with a student visa must attend at least 80% of their classes. The school's application form and the enrolment agreement contain the details of our refund policy. We are happy to help with all visa applications. Medical Insurance Medical insurance is recommended for all international students. You can arrange for overseas insurance before departure if you prefer or we can assist you in obtaining medical insurance upon your arrival. Our current insurance company will pay 100% of emergency fees. If you would like the details before you arrive, please e-mail us at admission@geosmontreal.com.
