Requirements for International Students

International students coming to study in Canada for less than three months may study at ESC with a visitor visa. International students who want to study at ESC for more than three months require a Student Authorization visa. A student visa can be obtained from the nearest Canadian consulate in the students' home country. To assist you in applying for a Student Authorization visa, the English School of Canada will issue an Official Letter of Acceptance once you have completed the application process and tuition fees have been paid.

Procedure for International Students

Students should first complete the English School of Canada Application. Students can complete an ESC Application on-line at www.esc-toronto.com, or students can send the Application form by fax at (416) 686-7960 or by mail. Students can pay their tuition fees directly to the school by direct bank transfer. After the application process has been completed and tuition fees have been received, the school will issue an Official Letter of Acceptance, if required.

Notes:The English School of Canada accepts students continuously throughout the year. Courses begin each month and there are start dates every two weeks. The school also has a one week holiday at Christmas time. On the first day of school, students complete an orientation and a placement test to determine their English level. The placement test includes a computer based grammar and reading test, plus an interview. Students begin their courses in their correct level the next day. It takes most students about one month to complete one level. At the end of each month there is a level test that students take in order to advance to the next level of study. All courses are taught in English by qualified native English teachers. Students have a different teacher for each class so that they can benefit from listening to different speakers. All students are also required to follow the school's English only policy while at school.
