The minimum admission requirement for postsecondary programs is one of the following:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with the majority (eight of 14) of your senior level (Grade 11 or higher) credits at the college preparation, university/college preparation or university preparation level
- Equivalent secondary school diploma from another province or territory in Canada (Please note: A recognized equivalent to an OSSD may be accepted if you meet the levels, subjects and overall averages required for admission to the college. Generally the requirement is successful completion of a Grade 12 diploma except in Quebec where the equivalent is Secondary V) or
- Equivalent secondary school diploma from outside of Canada. Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have their documents evaluated by a credential assessment service (ICAS) and submit proof of educational qualifications in order to determine if their level of achievement is equivalent to an OSSD.
Students whose first language is not English must submit proof of proficiency in the English language to be admitted. A paper based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 and Test of Written English (TWE) 5.0 (written), or 213 on the computer based TOEFL is needed. Students must have an essay rating of 5.0.

Students should submit a completed application and transcript to Ontario College Application Services (OCAS) at www.ontariocolleges.ca. The application service will send your application to the colleges you have chosen. You may be asked to complete questionnaires, provide portfolios, attend interviews, and/or take part in testing or information sessions. The application processing fee is $95.00. The application fee is payable to OCAS. The preferential deadline for full-time diploma programs beginning in September is February 1. Students are encouraged to contact the Admissions office at 905-721-3000 for detailed information.
1. Complete and mail a Durham College international student application form. Applications can be submitted at any time. Applications should be sent as soon as possible to allow students sufficient time to obtain a student visa.
2. Original or certified copies of all documentation and academic records should accompany the application. The student must send proof of graduation as well as courses taken and marks received. Students who are not graduating until later in the year should send current transcripts along with mid-term marks.
3. A letter of acceptance will be sent out as soon as the College has reached a decision, usually within two weeks of receiving the application.
4. An applicant granted admission to a program must confirm acceptance of this offer by sending a non-refundable deposit of $540.00 to Durham College.
5. The student must apply to a Canadian embassy or consulate for a student visa. The student visa must be obtained in the student's home country; it cannot be obtained in Canada.
6. Finally, full tuition must be paid by the semester deadline.
The tuition fee, health insurance, and other compulsory costs are $11,442.00. In addition, there are fees for books, materials, etc. Immigration Canada also requires proof of money for living expenses, approximately $10,000.00. Please visit the website for further information.
