Manulife Life Lessons

Are you ready to re-imagine your future? Share your story and you could receive a $10,000 scholarship.

Paying for post-secondary education can be a huge challenge for students who have lost a parent or guardian with little to no life insurance. That's why the Manulife Life Lessons Scholarship Program is designed to help support students in pursuing their post-secondary dreams.

Who can apply?

Any student who is currently enrolled in or has been accepted to a college, university, or trade school within Canada and:

  • Is a permanent resident of Canada;
  • Is between 17 and 24 years of age at the time of application;
  • Has experienced the death of a parent or legal guardian who had little or no life insurance coverage.

How do you apply?

In addition to some basic information, you will need to submit a 500-word essay OR a 3-minute video about how losing your parent or guardian has affected your life financially and emotionally. Your application will be strengthened if you note how the loss of a parent/guardian has impacted your post-secondary education plans and your family's financial situation, and if you detail the work you have put into your post-secondary journey so far.

We know it can be difficult to share such a personal experience. For the first time, Manulife is inviting applicants' surviving parent or legal guardian to create the entry on their behalf.

Please note that essays exceeding 500 words or videos longer than 3 minutes will automatically be disqualified.

Where do you apply?

You can apply to the Manulife Life Lessons Scholarship Program online from February 1 to March 31, 2024, by visiting Manulife.ca/ManulifeLifeLessons. Here, you can also read the full rules and regulations to determine whether you're eligible for the Manulife Life Scholarship Program.
