This degree combines theatre with the study of Italian. Italian culture has had a lasting impact on Europe. Today, Italy's innovative contributions to design, technology and fashion make it a major global commercial force. This course offers an enriching experience with exciting intellectual challenges, and a wide range of options that will allow you to pursue your own interests. The theatre course will allow you to build your understanding and performance skills by exploring critical and historical frameworks alongside practical workshops. There are opportunities to engage with professional theatre-makers and our museum-accredited archive, the Theatre Collection.
As well as following a structured Italian language course, you will be able to choose from an enviable range of options on diverse aspects of Italian culture, encompassing literature, film, medieval and renaissance studies and cultural history. You will spend your third year abroad in an Italian-speaking environment, extending your language skills and cultural knowledge. On your return to Bristol for your fourth year of study, you will have the chance to undertake an independent practical or written research project, or a work placement in the creative industries. Both departments encourage strong synergy between research and teaching, resulting in a vibrant learning environment as staff incorporate new research into their classes. |

Applicants from Ontario require a Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma (advanced level) with an average of between 80% and 90%. This must include six Grade 12 U, U/C or M courses, including a modern language. |
