Description:

Social Policy is about what human beings need, and how societies seek to meet those needs. All societies face those challenges – and how they meet them is of vital importance to all of our lives, and to a wide array of professional fields. Social Policy is a constantly evolving subject area, shaped by factors from globalisation, through national agendas and social movements, down to local priorities and individual circumstances.

The Social Policy degree explores how society promotes the well-being of its members by looking at general themes and values – social justice, equality, fairness and citizenship – alongside specific focal points of policy such as health, education, poverty, the family and crime. We look critically at the nature of human needs, at how best to meet them, and at whose responsibility that should be.
