Description:

A good journalist is a critical thinker and a rigorous investigator. Finding and researching news, identifying the characteristics of a good story and telling that story accurately and fairly are fundamental skills for a journalist.

The Journalism concentration is a second year option of the Radio Television Journalism diploma program and focuses on news gathering, writing and reporting for video, audio and web platforms and presenting those reports to a diverse public. Students will report on real social issues in an authentic environment that reflects the processes and expectations of the media industry and this diverse skill set will support job opportunities in both traditional areas and in the new and emerging ways of gathering news and disseminating it. Graduates will find employment opportunities as TV, Radio, Online News Reporters, Producers, Video-Journalists and Features Writers as well as many other positions.

    Successful completion of Radio Television Journalism – Year 1 or Advanced Standing.

    Advanced Standing – To be considered, you must apply to and meet the Admission Requirements for the Radio Television Journalism program. Advanced Standing is based on academic credits (certificate/diploma/degree) completed from a recognized public institution within the past ten years that meet the Academic Requirements of the full first year of the program. Advanced Standing is subject to seat availability.
