Launched in September 2010 the GDDP is a unique program in Canada, and the first of this kind, jointly developed by Simon Fraser University (SFU) and Zhejiang University (ZJU), China. The program builds on the highly successful and award-winning SFU-ZJU undergraduate dual-degree program (DDP) and allows students to experience graduate studies in both China and Canada. By studying at two internationally recognized universities, students have an opportunity to work with world-class researchers and industry partners from both countries, benefit from diverse scientific research approaches, and gain a major career advantage in the global market.
Students in the GDDP program will acquire two graduate degrees. Graduates will receive a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from Simon Fraser University, and a Master of Software Engineering (MSE) degree from Zhejiang University. Students will study and conduct research at both universities.

Students must be admitted to one university, and then apply and be admitted to the other university. To qualify for admission, students must satisfy the usual admission requirements as specified by each university. The university of first admission will be referred to as the student's 'home' university. Students whose home university is Simon Fraser University are called SFU students while those whose home university is Zhejiang are called ZJU students.
Once admitted to the home university, the student may then apply for admission to the graduate dual degree program normally within 12 months of the date of admission to the home university graduate program. The program application requires the support and involvement of the student's supervisor at the home university. The graduate program committee at the home university decides whether or not to recommend the student for admission to the GDDP. A recommended individual's application will then be forwarded to the other partner university. Applicants must meet the admission requirements of that partner university.
In exceptional circumstances, a student may be admitted with lower formal qualifications when there is significant professional experience relevant to the proposed area of scholarship. Please do not contact us about waiving the requirement. Instead, use your application materials (your CV, statement of purpose, etc.) to make the case that your professional experience is relevant and should be considered along with your GPA. |

| Application Notes : | English is the language of instruction and communication at the University (SFU). Accordingly, an applicant whose primary language is not English must demonstrate command of English sufficient to pursue graduate studies in the chosen field. Applicants normally will be required to achieve a minimum score of 7.0 on the International English LanguageTest System (IELTS - the academic and NOT the general test) with a minimum of 6.5 in any section.
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) may be used as an equivalent test, where the minimum requirement is a score of 93 or better with a minimum of 20 in each section (TOEFL - internet based exam) or a score of 580 for the paper-based TOEFL plus the Test of Written English (TWE) 5.0.
Any equivalent test must include a writing component and all test scores are valid for a period of two years from the date of the test.
International applicants whose primary language is not English will not be required to complete an English-language test if they have completed a degree at an institution where the language of instruction and examination was in English in a country where English is the primary language. |
