There has never been a more exciting time to study Computer Science. Society is in the midst of a technology revolution, which is fueled by the advancement of knowledge in computing. The ability to create, manipulate, and speak the language of technology has become some of the most valued skills applicable to almost every industry. When you study Computer Science at Trent, you’ll get a chance to develop your skills in designing, implementing, and integrating software applications – everything from supercomputers to game boards. This degree will equip you with the skills required for a successful career in the ever- changing tech sector.
Students completing a B.Sc. in Computing Systems or undertaking one of three Computing Systems specializations will be eligible to complete the new co-op option. As part of this option, you will complete three paid work terms as part of your four-year degree. Co-op terms will take place in the fall and over the summer. Friendly and helpful department staff will assist you in finding the perfect co-op placement, or you can arrange your own (with pre-approval).

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school. Applicants are required to have: an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), a minimum of six Grade 12 4U or 4M courses, including program specific prerequisites, a minimum 70% overall final average, and ENG 4U with a minimum of 60%. |
Additional Admission Requirements: | The number of places in the Co-op option will initially be limited to 12 students per year who are applying directly from high school.
Students are required to have a 12U Math course, a minimum entrance average of 80%, and submit a 2-page essay on why they want to take part in the Co-op option. In addition, it would be beneficial to have previous programming experience.
