Description:

Studying music and philosophy will give you a firm grasp on both subjects. Half your modules will be in music, the other half in philosophy. A personal tutor will work with you over the three years to help you make the most of this combination.

Music modules include the history and psychology of music, ethnomusicology, jazz and popular music, music education, music technology and the music business. If you create a degree path that includes performance, you'll get expert tuition on your principal instrument. The philosophy side of the course is completely flexible. There are no compulsory modules. You can develop your understanding of key areas such as ethics, philosophy of mind, theory of knowledge, political philosophy, metaphysics and logic. We also teach courses on major figures including Plato, Aristotle, Descartes and Hegel.
