Philosophical reflection requires a distinctive combination of imagination and exact reasoning. You'll develop these skills through a wide range of modules on the philosophy side of the degree. There are no compulsory modules so you can shape your own course. We cover key areas such as ethics, philosophy of mind, theory of knowledge, political philosophy, metaphysics and logic. The flexibility of the modern languages part of the degree means you have the option to study either one or two of the 11 different languages we have on offer: Catalan, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Luxembourgish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish. |

Applicants are required to have an average of 75% in six grade 12 U, U/C or M courses, typically including a modern foreign language. If you are not studying a modern foreign language, the department will consider other evidence of aptitude for language learning (such as a languages GCSE or, for non-native speakers of English, an English language qualification).
