Description:

This course is for students who want to develop a wide range of abilities. You'll have the opportunity to perform, compose and write about music, and you'll develop high-level language skills and an understanding of different cultures.

In music you can explore composition and performance, the history and psychology of music, ethnomusicology, jazz and popular music, music education, music technology, and the music business. If your degree path includes performance, you're given expert tuition on your principal instrument. The flexibility of the modern languages part of the degree means you have the option to study either one or two of the 11 different languages we have on offer: Catalan, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Luxembourgish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

Applicants are required to have an average of 75% in six grade 12 U, U/C or M courses, ncluding Music or Grade 8 Practical (ABRSM/Trinity/Rockschool or equivalent) at Merit + Grade 5 theory (ABRSM/Trinity) at Merit and typically including a modern foreign language. If you are not studying a modern foreign language, the department will consider other evidence of aptitude for language learning (such as a languages GCSE or, for non-native speakers of English, an English language qualification).

Application Notes : International students need an overall IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component, or an equivalent English language qualification.
