Description:

Students enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at SFU (major/honours) may be eligible to be pre-approved for admission to an accelerated master's program for a future term (i.e. after successful completion of the bachelor's program), provided that they have satisfactorily completed at least 90 units of undergraduate course work with a minimum CGPA of 3.67/4.33. The approved student will be eligible to enroll in a maximum of ten (10) units of graduate course work, either as electives or upper division required courses at the bachelor's level, while in the undergraduate program. Those units may also be counted toward the program requirements for the future master's program once the student has successfully completed the bachelor's program and has commenced the master's program.

    • International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 7] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Paper Based) [min. 580] or Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 93]
    Application Notes : English is the language of instruction and communication at SFU. Accordingly, an applicant whose primary language is not English must demonstrate command of English sufficient to pursue graduate studies in the chosen field.

    International applicants whose primary language is not English will not be required to complete an English-language test if they have completed a degree at an institution where the language of instruction and examination was in English in a country where English is the primary language.

    Simon Fraser University Graduate Program accepts the following tests:

    TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
    IELTS (International English Language Testing Systems)

    The minimum graduate program admission requirements for test scores:

    Internet-based TOEFL: 93 with minimum of 20 in each section
    Paper-based TOEFL: 580 and TWE 5.0
    IELTS (academic): overall band score of 7.0 of the academic (NOT general) test with a minimum of 6.5 in each section.
