Description:

The Master of Health Leadership and Policy (MHLP) in Seniors Care is a professional degree for health-care professionals who want to design, deliver and lead comprehensive care and services for seniors in a range of community and organizational settings. This hybrid program combines graduate-level health-care courses with UBC Sauder School of Business courses – giving you the skills and confidence to take your career in new direction.



Choose from either a full-time (12-month) or part-time (24-month) option. With the 12-month full-time option, you'll complete your studies in one year, expanding your knowledge base and skill set in a concentrated time frame. The 24-month part-time option offers flexibility for those who want to continue working while building their business and technical knowledge. By balancing work and study, you'll be able to apply your new skills immediately to your workplace, and bring technical and leadership challenges from work into classroom discussion. This part-time version of the MHLP in Seniors Care also an opportunity to build your professional network over two years. Students pursuing this option can expect to be on campus for two weekdays each week (approximately 10 hours total).

    Applicants for a master's degree program must hold the academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor's degree from UBC including one of the following:



  • A minimum overall average in the B+ range (76% at UBC) in third- and fourth-year courses.

  • Academic standing with at least 12 credits of third- or fourth-year courses in the A grade range (80% or higher at UBC) in the field of study.

  • Test Scores:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration)
    Application Notes : Applicants whose degrees are from a university outside Canada in which English is not the primary language of instruction must present evidence of competency to pursue studies in the English language prior to being extended an offer of admission.

    All applicants must complete an online application form and pay the application fee to be considered for admission to UBC.

    All applicants have to submit transcripts from all past post-secondary study.

    A minimum of three references are required for application to graduate programs at UBC. References should be requested from individuals who are prepared to provide a report on your academic ability and qualifications.
