Description:

Are you passionate about helping people, drawn to health care and love to work with equipment and technology? Then kick off a diverse and rewarding career with a Hearing Instrument Practitioner Diploma. In this two-year program — the only one of its kind in B.C. — you’ll acquire the skills and training to help improve quality of life for people with hearing loss. Learn how to test people’s hearing, dispense and program hearing aids, and counsel patients on managing ongoing hearing loss.

Prerequisites:

These courses are intended as guidelines. Speak to your guidance counsellor to see what courses are offered at your school.
  •  Grade12 English 
  •  Grade11 Foundations for College Mathematics (MAP4C)  or  Grade11 Precalculus 
Applicants must meet General College Admission Requirements. Applicants are also required to have Foundations of Math 11, Pre-Calculus 11 or the former Principles of Math 11/12 with a minimum of C (or equivalent).
Additional Admission Requirements:

    Signed documentation of a Hearing Clinic tour or signed attendance at a Douglas College Information Session for the Hearing Instrument Practitioner Program, as well as a Criminal Record Check (CRC) are also required. Applicants may be required to attend a personal interview that will be used for the purposes of providing information and academic counseling.
