Description:

Get the practical knowledge you need to become a Physical and Health Education (PHE) Specialist for elementary, middle or high school. The Graduate Diploma in Physical and Health Education is designed to give teachers who do not have a specialty in PHE the knowledge, skills and practice necessary to become confident PHE leaders in their classroom and the wider school community. The program delivers a blend of theory and practical skills and emphasizes applications of current PHE theory. Designed for working teachers, we offer advanced facilities and curriculum as well as a flexible course schedule. You'll enjoy specialized job opportunities and salary increases for TQS categories 4 and 5 upon program completion.

Candidates must meet one or more of the prerequisite conditions: hold a Professional Teaching Certificate in British Columbia, or have completed an undergraduate degree in an education-related field with practicum experience, or have completed an undergraduate degree and have documented experience working with children in educational or recreational settings.

Applicants are also required to submit: a letter of intent that outlines: long and short-term career goals, years of teaching experience, your education background and why you'd like to upgrade your physical and health education curriculum and pedagogy, and a description of current and short-term future teaching contexts that demonstrates your access to teaching students in a physical and health education or activity settings.
