Media, in all their variety, play an increasingly significant role in all aspects of our personal, social and professional lives. Understanding the media enables us not only to understand ourselves, our culture and the societies in which we live, but also helps us to understand the many opportunities that exist for employment in the creative and communication industries. The media landscape evolves rapidly, and this makes the study of what we do with our phones, tablets and other devices an exciting and constantly developing field.
Studying with us, you will: investigate the ways that the media can shape our understanding of gender, ethnicity, disability, and other aspects of identity and culture; develop an understanding of the role and responsibility of the media in a rapidly changing multicultural society; explore the power of communication in a local, national and global context; and have the opportunity to produce your own media content in fully-equipped radio and TV studio facilities where you will learn key skills such as project management, editing, direction and production.
