Description:Sheridan's Chemical Laboratory Technician diploma provides students to work in excellent facilities with many of todays current technology. Students will be able to work with these new technologies by getting hands-on experience in the lab as well as apply theory from the chemical sciences.

Environmental services, energy, health care, are all rapidly growing sectors that rely on chemical analysis and research – and they all have one thing in common; they need laboratory technician college graduates with specialized skills for the chemical lab. The Chemical Lab Technician diploma program begins with a solid academic foundation with courses in organic and inorganic chemistry, calculus and advanced science. Once in the workforce, the duties of graduates may include: analyzing samples, preparing samples and solutions, making and purifying chemicals, and technical sales for laboratory equipment and supplies.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have completed their Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent. Applicants must also have one Grade 12 English (ENG4C or ENG4U), one of Grade 11 (U) or Grade 12 Chemistry (C), and Grade 12 Mathematics for College Technology (MCT4C) or Grade 11 Functions (MCF3M) or Grade 11 Functions and Relations (MCR3U) or any Grade 12 (U) mathematics course. Eligible applicants will be selected on the basis of previous academic achievement (the average of their six highest senior-level credits, including required courses).
