Description:

The Social Science program at Providence is designed to develop an appreciation of, and commitment to, the common good and well-being of human life. Acquiring the skills and knowledge necessary so that students can go out into the world being able to understand people, culture, and society, both in terms of the human condition in which they live and the human experience of life. Not only that, but also interpret their own human experience, and thereby enhancing their understanding.

This is done through the concentrations of sociology and psychology. In the classroom, students will learn how to characterize the various methods and theoretical perspectives of the material in relation to the humanities. They will attain the knowledge of different skills and approaches to adding Christianity to the social sciences. This helps students grasp how to articulate how individuals, groups, and societies materialize, behave, and alter all the time. By the end of the program students will know how to summarize and evaluate important human ideas and issues from an informed Christian worldview, which is an asset for any believer actively working in the world.
