All students spend the first two years following the same core programme. This provides the fundamental knowledge and the intellectual and practical skills required by all mechanical engineers. It also includes developing your skills in workshop practice, and conducting your own ‘design, make and test’ projects in both years. You specialise in nuclear engineering with modules covering a basic introduction to nuclear energy and the basic chemical engineering techniques in fuel production, fuel processing and waste management. Your fourth year is spent working in a relevant industry, gaining valuable work experience, and putting your subject knowledge to practice.
