Description:

Our BA(Hons) Primary Education (ITE) will prepare you to specialise in the teaching of five to 11 year olds across key stages 1 and 2, developing your skills to professional teacher standards. We are committed to training transformational professionals who will make a significant difference to the lives of all the children they teach. At the end of this rewarding honours degree, you will be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

The course adopts an enquiry-based approach to learning, building your skills and deepening your knowledge and understanding through self-directed study. You will work independently and as part of a team, collaborating in study groups, assessments and in early professional practice with fellow students. You will be given a firm grounding in all National Curriculum subjects and choose a specialism from Literacies and Language, Maths and Sciences, Arts, Humanities, or Special Educational Needs. You will be encouraged to read, discuss and question current policy and practice and make links between educational theory and practice. In your final year, you will research and write a dissertation on a topic of your choice.
