Description:

he Faculty of Education has a national reputation in Initial Teacher Training and this three-year degree programme, leading to *recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to work in the 3-11 age range, was rated 'outstanding' (Ofsted 2011). Training is structured progressively, developing student teachers who are critical and reflective thinkers and use research to inform their practice. We work closely with a well-established partnership of over 1,500 schools, colleges and other educational settings. Students undertake experience at every key stage, thereby ensuring they are prepared to work in any year group and understand how early years fits with key stages 1 and 2. This element, together with the emphasis we place on practice placements, greatly enhances future employability. In line with government priorities, students start to specialise from their first year.At the start of each degree cycle, the range of specialisms on offer alters and the choice of subjects available will be shared with students in their first term. Different specialisms are offered at the Manchester and Cheshire campuses.
