Description:

This degree, taught in the Department of Apparel, is aimed at students who want to become creative designers within the fashion industry; whilst studying on this programme, you are expected to seek out the new and be innovative. You will be encouraged to be visionary, to make a contribution to the future development of fashion design in a global context. Your design research will be broad ranging and original in concept, which will in turn inspire and inform your design ideas, enabling you to enter the industry as a creative and professional practitioner. The curriculum encourages you to develop your intellectual skills alongside your practical skills. You will be expected to be challenging in your use of materials, and to use cutting-edge, state-of-the-art equipment. This programme encourages you to value traditional manufacturing methods, and to embrace and experiment with new technology. Your first year will provide you with an overview of fashion design and technology where you will develop transferable skills applicable to all sectors of the industry. From your second year onwards you will study your chosen route.

    Canadian High School diploma holders (Grade 12 graduates) are usually accepted, subject to meeting the minimum entry requirements of the University.
