Description:

Our combined honours History and International Relations course combines the study of historical events and the impact of these on the society we live in today, whilst exploring the relationships between nations, global politics, and the influence of power in society.

History at Keele is taught by academics who are active researchers and experts across a diverse range of fields (from political, social, economic and cultural history to the history of gender, health, sexuality and religion) and periods (from late-antiquity to the present day). You will develop your knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills by studying a range of topics, enabling you to trace the course of change in key areas of human history. You will learn to appreciate the impact of events, forces, and processes on individual societies and the world as a whole. You will develop an understanding of how to research diverse topics effectively, how to critically interrogate evidence and reflect on pivotal moments in history. This will involve working both independently and as part of a team in order to broaden your knowledge and develop transferable skills that will allow you to interpret information from various sources critically and effectively.
